National Biodiesel Conference and Expo

Biodiesel Expo
Alan Weber, senior advisor to the National Biodiesel Board, led a panel discussion at the final general session of the 2010 National Biodiesel Conference and Expo in Dallas, TX. Weber was joined by Dr. Dick Auld (Texas Tech University), Mary Rosenthal (Algal Biomass Organization), Dr. Dallas Hanks (Freeways to Fuel Program), and Dave Slade (Renewable Energy Group) to address new feedstock options for biodiesel production. National Conference on Weights and Measures

Rebecca Richardson attended the NCWM Interim Meeting in January, providing comments on behalf of the National Biodiesel Board. NCWM is a national organization which convenes twice annually made up of four regional weights and measures organizations – Northeast, Central, Southern and Western Weights and Measures. Among the many issues considered and debated is that of fuel quality regulation and enforcement.

Weber Appointed to Texas Bioenergy Research Committee

Administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture, the Texas Bioenergy Research Committee was established to promote the goal of making biofuels a significant part of the energy industry in Texas by January 1, 2019.

Biodiesel Feedstock Supplies

Although the biodiesel industry has experienced tremendous growth, raw material supplies have served as a natural brake and created a strain on margins for biodiesel producers. Achieving the biodiesel industry vision of replacing 5% of diesel demand by 2015 calls for additional focus on new raw materials sources for biodiesel production. MARC-IV welcomes a familiar face.

Rebecca Richardson joined the company in January, 2009 after an eleven-year tenure with the Illinois Soybean Association. Richardson has an extended history in both commodity-based association management and the biodiesel industry. MARC-IV welcomes Richardson’s efforts, which will focus on fuel quality, state governmental affairs, technical support to state initiatives, and providing membership support and service to NBB members. ASTM Award of Excellence

Steve Howell of MARC-IV Consulting received the ASTM Award of Excellence for his contribution to the development of test methods and specifications for biodiesel and biodiesel blends at the ASTM subcommittee E meetings in June, 2008. Howell is the technical director for the National Biodiesel Board and chairman of the ASTM biodiesel task force.
